Key Responsibilities and Differences from Traditional Product Management

Core Tasks and Responsibilities:

Understanding Key Components: Trust and Safety encompass critical areas such as content moderation, identity management, user privacy, data security, and fraud prevention. Unlike traditional PMs who might focus more broadly on product features and market fit, a T&S PM is deeply immersed in these specific elements. Risk Assessment: This involves identifying and evaluating potential risks that could harm users or tarnish the company’s reputation. It's a daily endeavor to assess new risks associated with product updates. Strategic Integration: A unique aspect of the T&S PM’s role is marrying the T&S strategy with the broader business mission and vision. This strategic thinking is crucial and goes beyond typical product development. Policy Development and Cross-functional Collaboration: Working closely with policy specialists to craft guidelines and collaborating with engineers, data scientists, and legal teams to integrate safety measures into product updates.
